Definition
An extension token is the private key that links a browser extension installation to your Rima account.
What it is for
The token lets the extension load your projects and save recordings as you without asking for your website password.
How it works
- Generate the key in the dashboard Extension Access panel; it starts with
rima_. - Paste it into the extension side panel connect gate; the extension validates it, stores it locally, and loads your projects.
- Only one extension installation can hold the token at a time; connecting from a second browser offers a take-over.
- Rotating the key revokes the old one and shows the new full key exactly once.
Example
Generate a key on the dashboard, copy it into the extension side panel, and the recorder can immediately list your projects.

- Connect the extension on a new computer.
- Take over a token from an old installation.
- Rotate a token you may have exposed.
- Disconnect an extension.
Where to find it
Open the Browser extension panel on the dashboard. Generate, copy, rotate, or revoke the key there.
Limitations, requirements, and permissions
- The full token is visible only immediately after rotation, so copy it right away; later only the prefix and usage metadata are shown.
- A revoked or rotated-out token stops working immediately.
- Viewing and rotating the key requires extension-access permission.
