Definition
Admin user management covers the account controls in the admin console’s Users panel: ban and unban, soft delete and restore, end or continue a free trial, and create a demo user. Only administrator accounts see these controls.
What it is for
Administrators use these actions to enforce platform rules, manage account lifecycles, adjust trials, and spin up demo accounts for evaluations.
How it works
- Ban blocks a user; Unban removes the ban flag.
- Soft Delete marks an account deleted without destroying it; Restore brings it back.
- End Free Trial stops a user’s trial after confirmation; Continue Trial resumes a stopped trial while its original days remain.
- The Create Demo User section takes a name, email, and password and creates a demo account.
- Each action reloads the admin data so the Users panel reflects the change.
Example
An administrator bans an account abusing the recorder, soft-deletes a spam signup, restores an account deleted by mistake, and creates a demo user for a sales walkthrough.
Common use cases
- Ban and later unban a user violating terms.
- Soft-delete a stale or fraudulent account with the option to restore it.
- End a free trial early, or continue one stopped by mistake.
- Create a demo user for demonstrations.
Where to find it
Administrators open /admin from the Admin link in the navbar, then the Users panel via the Admin Data cards; Create Demo User has its own section on the console.
Limitations, requirements, and permissions
- Admin-only: every action requires an administrator session; the target user must exist.
- Trial buttons appear only when the user’s trial state is eligible; Continue Trial works only while the original trial days have not passed.
- Ban/unban and delete/restore actions confirm or apply immediately and reload the data; demo-user creation is validated server-side.
